Where Buscopan® IBS Relief comes from
Duboisia is a small shrub with a thick corky bark. The leaves that are used for the production of the active ingredient in Buscopan® IBS Relief come from a specially cultivated variety of Duboisia, mainly grown in Australia and South America. Duboisia is cultivated using state-of-the-art farming techniques to ensure the highest level of worker's safety and minimal environmental impact. Plantations use environmentally-friendly agricultural practices including:
  • Leaving land fallow in rotation
  • Protection against soil erosion by selection of suitable cultivation methods
  • Construction of contour banks to control water run-off
  • Considerate use of farm chemicals.
In addition, a reforestation programme with eucalyptus has been started in Australia as eucalyptus can be used by native species as a fodder plant.
